SPECIALTYFormer actress on NBC's TV show "The Facts of Life," Lisa now focuses on such topics as parenting, education and women's ministry. BIOLisa Whelchel was born on May 29 in Littlefield, Texas. At age 13, her first professional acting experience was as a Mouseketeer for “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” Ms. Whelchel is perhaps best known for her starring role as Blair Warner on NBC’s “The Facts of Life” for nine years. Her first book, “Creative Correction” published by Tyndale House, was released in October of 2000. The book has sold over 140,000 copies and received a Gold Medallion Nomination in the Family and Parenting Category. She is also the author of “The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me,” “So You're Thinking About Homeschooling,” “The ADVENTure of Christmas,” “The Busy Mom's Guide to Prayer,” The Busy Mom's Guide to Wisdom,” “The Busy Mom's Guide to Bible Study,” “Speaking Mom-ese,” “Creative Correction – The Bible Study, ” “This is My Story -Bible Study” and “Taking Care of the ‘Me' in Mommy.” Ms. Whelchel is married and homeschools her three children. She feels her current role, as a wife and mother, is her greatest and most challenging role yet. With a goal to refresh and equip other mothers, she is the founder of MomTime Ministries, MomTime Get-A-Ways and “Personal Mom Coaching.” TESTIMONYI became a Christian when I was 10 years old and since that time my whole life has been about serving the Lord and sharing His love with others. Many people ask me why my life turned out so happy when many child stars have not always been as fortunate. I attribute it to the fact that when I was 10 years old, that empty place that is in each of us, was filled. I have never felt the need to look in any other direction for happiness or contentment. I understand how easy it could be to look to drugs, sex, alcohol, money or pleasure to fill up the emptiness inside. That's why I thank God everyday that he saved me at a young age, forgave me of my sins and kept me from walking down paths that only lead to more hurt and pain.
