Founder and president of Sold Out Youth Ministries, along with his wife, Marsha, this Roman chose to battle for the hearts of the lost rather than for yards, completions, and touchdowns on the football field. For 14 years he has fought the good fight. But his name is also a reminder, at least to hardcore football fans, because it evokes great memories of his father, the fan favorite QB for the Los Angeles Rams (’67 – ’72) and Philadelphia Eagles (’73 – ’77), or his years at NC State where his records stood for decades. TestimonyAt the very heart of Sold Out Youth Ministries is a life changed from the calling of the gridiron to the calling of the Gospel. Roman tells it best: “My childhood was definitely out of the norm surrounded by the sights and sounds of Pro-football and being the son of a very famous NFL quarterback. My mom did everything to keep my brother and I grounded in church. I heard the gospel story, but it was not until my parents divorce and the resulting pain that I realized my need for God. I accepted Christ as my savior at the age of 13 on a youth group retreat. But it was not until college and the special friendship of two teammates that I understood what it was to walk daily with Christ. As a sophomore, I made a commitment to follow Him and to surrender my life on and off the field. It was and still is the best decision I have ever made. God used that time in my life to prepare me for full-time ministry.
